  • On This Day

    August 19

The Principal produced a letter at a meeting of the Faculty, recommending that the medals from the Hunterian collections should be sent from London to Glasgow by waggon "with a guard of not less than six men, military if they can be had." The Faculty agreed to "engage six trusty men who have been accustomed to arms to go from this [place] by sea and return by the waggon".
